Botox appointments in Miami often turn into a product question: BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport®, or Xeomin®. They share a boxed warning. They do not share a unit scale. A licensed local provider calls you back; this page stays with the FDA labels.
What they share
All three are botulinum toxin type A products. All three labels warn that the toxin can spread from the injection site and that swallowing or breathing trouble can be life-threatening. All three say their units are specific to that product and are not interchangeable with another toxin’s units.
What the labels approve for the face
BOTOX Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA), October 2024 label: temporary improvement in adults of moderate to severe glabellar lines, lateral canthal lines, forehead lines, and platysma bands.
Dysport (abobotulinumtoxinA): temporary improvement of moderate to severe glabellar lines in adults younger than 65. The labeled glabellar dose is 50 Units in five 10-Unit aliquots. Forehead and crow’s feet are not listed as Dysport aesthetic indications on that label.
Xeomin (incobotulinumtoxinA), 2024/2026 labels: temporary improvement of upper facial lines in adults — glabellar, horizontal forehead, and lateral canthal lines, together or separately. Glabellar 20 Units, forehead with glabellar 40 Units, crow’s feet 24 Units; 64 Units if all three are treated together. Retreatment no more often than every three months. Median onset two to seven days.
Why “conversion charts” mislead
People quote 2.5 Dysport units per BOTOX unit because 50 divided by 20 is 2.5 on the frown. That arithmetic is two separate labeled doses for one anatomic job. It is not a license to convert every other area. The labels forbid treating the units as equal.
Questions for the callback
Which vial will you open for me, and why? If I have had one brand before, do you stay with it? How do you dose a forehead if we are using Dysport, which is labeled for the frown? Call (786) 432-0102. Related: how Botox is priced in Miami.
Storage, reconstitution, and how long an opened vial is good are provider-side details. You can still ask. A careful room will answer without talking down to you.
Xeomin’s label calls out a median onset of two to seven days and a three-month retreatment floor. BOTOX Cosmetic’s Medication Guide uses the three-month unknown-if-more-often language. Dysport’s glabellar indication is limited to adults under 65. Those are label differences you can quote.
If you have had neutralizing antibodies discussed in the past, say so. That is a reason some rooms reach for a different product. It is not a diagnosis you make from a blog.
Call (786) 432-0102 with the brand you had last, if you know it. Bring the old record if you have one.
Platysma bands are on the BOTOX Cosmetic label as of October 2024. They are not on Dysport’s aesthetic list in the label cited here. Ask before anyone treats a neck with a frown-only product.
